Riveting, tense and heartwarming story about a Vietnam Vet who overcomes the horrors of war and becomes a police sergeant. That is a story in itself. Then tack on how the drug cartel kidnaps his wife in an act of revenge after he shoots a drug suspect in self defense. The suspense really gets underway, though, when he and an old war buddy goes into the heart of Colombia to rescue her.
Superb character development and worldbuilding. The writing style flowed and was easy to read and the overall plot was compelling. I couldn't stop reading! What more could you want in a book? Definitely a 5-star read as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!

The story follows a protagonist whose central motive is to serve the woman in her life, and that goal helps clarify his actions, and keep him on track despite pitfalls and ways to be led astray.
