Author Hugh Harris has announced the early release of his fourth novel, "Pipeline."  The book is unrelated to his previous Dinkel Island Series of novels.  It takes place in a mountain community, dealing with a current issue familiar to many Virginians--the construction of a natural gas pipeline that threatens to displace the settled lives of people in remote areas.

   The story turns around a novice pastor, Billy Upshur, who is assigned to a rural congregation with churches in the village of Strong's Creek, and at Frog Hollow. He immediately encounters anger among people whose lives and traditions are being uprooted.

   A key issue centers around displacement of a revered, aging woman's home, and the protest activities of people who support her.  Romance enters the picture when Frog Hollow native, Cindy Barker, offers to help the pastor and the two of them are attracted to each other.  Storms, both natural and man-made, energize the story and drive it toward a positive conclusion. 

   "Pipeline" takes place in a fictitious locale, with fictitious characters. Author Hugh Harris imagines real life scenarious that might occur among people affected by such a pipeline project. As a retired pastor, he writes from a faith perspetive, with an overarching theme of redemption and hope. His writing style personalizes the people, lifestyle and everyday issues that make this a "must read" book.
