Letter to Editor posted on News with Views regarding Christine case.
Dear Editor 9-23-01
The Christine family crisis is becoming a very public case and drawing a great deal of support through out the nation. I predict it will be the news breaking case that opens the eyes of the public to an over-powerful CPS in many states.
Some helpful ideas have crossed my mind for all those that want to help the Christine's and the CPS system as a whole. First of all most of our efforts have been centered on contact and sharing our views with Oregon officials and media as well as higher offices in Washington DC. However there is one state we have neglected to bombard with our concerns that is of paramount importance at this time...Montana.
Montana is siding with Oregon (who has no legal right to an infant born in another state) on handing over Ruth Christine's infant at her birth to an Oregon social worker to be turned over to the State of Oregon CPS. This must be un-precidented in the history of law. I believe that Montana is un-aware of the controversy that Oregon is experiencing over this case. We must make many contacts to Montana CPS, court system, state officials, and all media outlets. Once Montana is aware of the wrong doing of the Oregon CPS (general term for Department of 'Family' Services) and realizes that in the end Montana as well as Oregon may be held accountable for their un-ethical actions, they may tread more lightly on their decisions regarding the Christine's fifth child.
Please contact all Montana officials and let them know your views.
On another note, I think that if we want to change the system, those of us with a clean record must apply for jobs with our local CPS offices. Apply for Social Worker, CASA volunteer, Guardian et Litem, secretary, or receptionist. If we can get into the system from the inside, us citizen's with more integrity may be able to make positive changes. If not we will then be in the position to record and collect data on un-ethical and illegal actions committed by employees of this over-zealous system.
So start today in helping our American families restore the sanctity that God meant for them to have.
