Described as its “Power Issue,” the October 2005 edition of ESSENCE Magazine contains the fifth poem from ELEMENTAL, by artist Luther E. Vann and author Aberjhani, that it has published this year. The poem, featured on page 257, is titled “Lady on the Lake.”

          The publication of the poem came just after Bonaventure Books launched its web page for ELEMENTAL at http://www.bonaventture.com/elemental.htm .

          Gracing the cover of the magazine is mega diva Beyonce’ Knowles, currently commanding public attention both with the establishment of a new fashion enterprise and for her reunion with the super hip hop group Destiny’s Child. The magazine also features interviews with celebrity author Terry McMillan on the break up of her marriage; and, actress Karrine Steffans on her life and career.

          In addition to Aberjhani’s work, the October edition showcases the work of a veritable posse of diverse poets that include: Asha Bandele, Tara Betts, Joni Durham, Louise Eagle, Jazminia C. Griffith, Jadi Keambiroiro, Kevin Powell, Etan Thomas, Claudette Webster, and Otema Yirenkyi.  The publication of these poets’ work makes the October ESSENCE one of the largest poetry issues in the magazine's history.
