Author and journalist Steven E. Wedel explains how to mix journalism and fiction to create a successful writing career.
Wedel will address participants at the first Celtic Rose Writers Workshop March 29, 2003 at Western Hills Lodge, nestled in Sequoya State Park in Wagoner, Oklahoma. His topic is "Newspapers to Novels: Using Journalism to Enhance Your Fiction."
"A lot of people think the two don't mix," Wedel said. "But the truth is, there have been some very well-known authors who started off writing for newspapers."
Wedel will explain the basics of three major newspapers forms, the hard news story, the feature story and the personal column, and how those forms translate to use in fiction writing.
