Publish America will release DARKSCAPES, a collection of early short fiction by award-winning author Steven E. Wedel later this year.
DARKSCAPES collects most of Wedel's early short fiction into one volume. Many of these stories, such as the award-winning "Reunion," will be published in print form for the first time. Others, including another award-winner, "Bridges," will be published for the first time in any form.
"Some of these stories really existed as just notes, outlines or rough drafts before I began putting this collection together," Wedel said. "It's obvious some stories are better than others, but overall DARKSCAPES marks a career milestone for me."
Most of the stories collected in DARKSCAPES fit into the horror genre, but not all.
"There are some fantasy, sci-fi and some mainstream stories and vignettes included," Wedel said. "But all the stories have a dark tone. They look at the dark side of life."
Publish America, of Maryland, will release DARKSCAPES later this year. It will be available in trade paperback format.
Wedel also has a collection of short werewolf stories available from MoonHowler Press. See his Web site for details.
