Chapter 7 Wishes Are Prayers - Coincidences Are Confirmation
As I wrote this book I became surrounded by wishes coming true. Coincidences occurred on a daily basis. I joked with friends that God had a wire
tap on me. I would no sooner think of what I would like to show up in my life and it would happen within 24 hours. That’s what happens when you’re in touch with God. His Power will permeate your life to help you achieve your goals and life purpose.
My Christmas Wish
I learned at a young age wishes can and do come true. Our church had, and still has, a manger scene beside the rectory every Christmas Season. When I was 9, I had a yearning desire to hold the Baby Jesus. Every time I passed by I made my wish. On the weekends, when our family would drive over to Nana’s for Sunday Dinner, I’d make my wish. I knew there was no way, I’d be able to hold Baby Jesus. He was on display beginning in Advent and was returned to storage after the Feast of the Epiphany. The Phillies would win the World Series before I ever held the Christ Child, but I kept on wishing.
One Friday afternoon a knock came on the door of our 4th Grade classroom. Sr. Joseph Therese met Fr. Greycheck at the door. They exchanged words and the next thing I knew I was told Father wanted to speak with me. My only thought was that my mom had died and Father was going to break the bad news to me. I held my breath and went out to the hallway to speak with Father. He explained that he had written a Christmas Play and wanted me to play the Virgin Mary. Rehearsals were held after school. The play was held the week before Christmas. I was Mary alright. I played a statue of Mary that came to life one day and presented the Christ Child to a humble altar boy. Where was the Christ Child going to be found? Father was going to use the Baby Jesus from the manager outside the church. I never prayed to hold Him, I just wished. Remember wishes are silent prayers. I got my wish. You can get yours. Keep your intentions pure and simple.
God Gave Me a Mustang
Eleven years later I made another silent wish., It was time to buy a car. Walking to the library one day, I saw a nice Ford Mustang. It was nice and pink. It’s the only pink Mustang I have ever seen and I have seen many. As I passed by, I casually told God that’s the car for me, except I would like my Mustang to be a Grande and make the color, forest green, with gold and white racing stripes on the sides. That was it. Nice and simple and I only made the request once and let it go. I knew then, and I know now, God heard me. He is listening. He has no office hours. He does not close for a lunch hour. He is open late at night and early in the morning. You don’t need to book in advance. You don’t need a referral. Try it.
Eight months later, my dad told me he had picked out a car for me. He and mom would take me to test drive my Mustang on Friday night. Friday night we drove to the dealership and that was the first time I saw my forest green, Grande Mustang. Did I mention the gold and white racing stripes on both sides? Either dad was better than Kreskin or the Spirit came down on dad because I received exactly what I had told God I wanted. God was the only one I had told.
Intuitively, I know I've lived many lifetimes, and none more interesting than the one I'm living now. However, being born an old soul somehow did not excuse me from the same job I share with you and that is learning to craft a positive attitude about
