Bettye Johnson had her life celebrated "big time" by business owner Michelle Jones at the the Blue Bottle Cafe in Yelm, Washington. The celebration, also known as her Red Carpet Celebration Extravaganza was held on September 11 when Johnson was picked by a limousine from her nearby home and driven to the Blue Bottle where she was greeted by many friends while walking on a red carpet.  Johnson was wearing her famous hat with roses and a boa.

The celebration began with a toast to a lifetime of achievement and a great future. "I am eighty years young, Johnson said. "I look forward to many projects, books and adventures along with a long, healthy life to enjoy it all. The scope of the celebration surprised Johnson who said, "I'm still reeling from it because it was so amazing and beautiful.

Audience members had a chance to chat with Johnson, hear lovely harp music by Mary Abrahmson, and performances by opera soprano Mayra Pena, the Be Hear Trio of Cara Clarke, Stefan Abuan and Steve Bartlett who had the attendees join in singing "You Are the Sunshine of My Life."

Johnson is known for having authored two Independent Publishers Book Awards, Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls, 2006 and Mary Magdalene, Her Legacy in 2008. Her two other self-published books are Awakening the Genie Within and A Christmas Awakening. In addition, Johnson created the Writers Night Out for writers, editors and poets in the area.
