Hi,
Thought you'd like to know. Last week we had our Honduran refugee plumber/Jack of all trades look at providing the drain under our rebuilt fence from the middle yard in the front yard, because after a heavy rain we got ponding that was getting the corner of the living room wet and causing water damage.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to do the work right away and we heard there was going to be a lot of rain from Nicholas. Fortunately, we didn't get a lot of rain but we did get some wind and minor damage to flowers.
Surprisingly, while there wasn't torrential rain or the wind howling like I heard in Alicia, our power went out at 4 am. That was okay, Beh made me some instant Vietnamese coffee with some hot water that tastes like Starbucks best for about $0.50 and I had cold oat milk in my Grape Nuts. My lunch is always just celery, carrots, radishes and fruit anyway, in this case, grapes. So no heating up necessary.
But my tenant came down complaining about it being too dark with the way she has her blinds, no matches for a candle, and no hot food. Beh went to the shop where they had power and opened up for business. I caught up on reading a National Geographic I put aside a month ago to finish up my two books in progress.
When I ran out of reading, I went into the kitchen and watched the sparrows eking out a living after eating all of our morning output of birdseed. Thinking about what we would have to do with what we had in the refrigerator, and the power came back on. Just 12 hours after it went off.
I thought the reason that it took so long was because I heard that 20,000 electrical workers were over in Louisiana restoring power there. But when I turned the news on there was widespread power outages throughout the city still not repaired. Most of the damage was wind damage and coastal flooding along the coast. We dodged another bullet. But I see a blue roof on the apartment complex outback. So maybe some wind damage here.
