Author-composer-teacher Laraine Elizabeth Turner is proud to announce that she has been selected as a Finalist in the VH-1 "Save the Music" Song of the Year Contest. This contest is an international competition that is judged by Grammy-award-winning judges like Sheila E. and Norah Jones. Her composition, "The Thorns of the Rose" was placed in the final top five of the Pop category for January of this year. Turner has stated that all of her songs are directly related to the books she writes.
She has also placed as "Runner-up" for several songs in the July competition.
This year (2007) Laraine Turner was blessed to be third-time Finalist in the VH-1 Song of the Year international songwriting competition for her song, "Never the Same Again," in the pop category. Turner stated, "I can envision a talented group like Chicago performing it. That would be fantastic. I'll be awaiting their call!"
Here are some of the lyrics to "Never the Same Again," which Turner wrote for her latest book, "Spanky," which centers around the pop music industry in the 60's:
