Biographical and Professional Information
Linda Sommer Farley tells us what life was like for her growing up. She shares with us the trauma of having an abusive grandfather and a mother with a gambling addiction and how it effected her throughout her life. Linda came from a large family of eight children. She was the sixth child and she was responsible for her younger brother and sister when no one was at home. She also expresses her embarrassment of growing up poor and the challenges she faced through her school years due to her poverty. Linda Sommer Farley is a proven survivor. Farley received a WICS Volunteer 20 award from the station, was the 1997 volunteer of the year for outstanding service and leadership on behalf of the Central Illinois Food Bank and volunteered for eight years at St. Patrick’s School.
Farley also helped at the St. Martins de Porres Center for 12 years.
She received a patent in 2001, Farley has had articles published in various newspapers and magazines.
