Kennedy announced before a special joint session of Congress the dramatic and ambitious goal of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth before the end of the decade. That fantastic goal came about, but something unexpected also took place, something definitive, and even more fantastic than traveling to the Moon and back—the monitoring of the Apollo Program by Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
