As the first offering in a busy publishing year for speculative fiction author Celina Summers, her short story collection Metamorphosis will be released by Aspen Mountain Press on March 27, 2009. The collection is comprised of speculative fiction short stories in homage to the original Metamorphoses written by the Roman poet Ovid. Instead of the literal metamorphoses of Ovid's work, Summers focuses on the figural metamorphoses of contemporary speculative fiction. In stories ranging from horror to fantasy, from humor to a prequel to her critically acclaimed epic fantasy series The Asphodel Cycle, Summers takes a journey through the transformations characters undergo in the isolation of their unique situations. The collection was edited by Lori Basiewicz, publisher of Trunk Novels. Summers' final installment of The Asphodel Cycle: Apostle of Asphodel will be released in May, while in April the first book of a new vampire trilogy set in the Europe of Revolutionary France will be released. The Vampire Covenants, co-written with author Rob Graham for Aspen Mountain Press, begins with a doomed love affair between a vampire and a mortal woman and ends with a war to preserve the Covenants that bind the vampires of Europe to a set of ancient laws. Set in the Europe of Revolutionary France, The Vampire Covenants promises to be an exciting addition to the world of literature based on vampiric lore.
