Tarrant County College District had its Poetry Jam Concert on campus and I read my poem, "Light", and WON!
On October 14th, 2003 it was a clear blue day and we had our first ever Poetry Jam concert on the NorthEast Campus of Tarrant County College District in Hurst, Texas! It was great! I really enjoyed it!
About 75 students showed up I would guess. Some HAD to show up as assignments for their English Litrerature class. Some HAD to write a poem and SOME of us HAD poems ALREADY written OF COURSE!
I was the FIRST ONE in line to sign up and read my poem. I had forgotten my 140 poems that day, but that was ok because there was a limit on reading just 3 poems. I had decided to read my poem called, "LIght" that I had memorized.
It has a special meaning in the heart. It has to do with my counselor in Missouri again. The one that sort of "Lifted me up and got me on my feet again." To be honest, I originally wrote the poem with HIM in mind, but then changed it to "The Lord".
I did that because Michael was there with me when I got ill. He saw me thru everything, as did Mom, eventually.

Anyway, at school today I found out they cut me a check for $15 dollars! I won Third place in the contest!
