.This poem is from my book that is out there now; Mou-si: Life Lessons and Thoughts Set to Poetry;
Underestimated
Words of intelligence that were put down on paper, giving the neighbors that confused stare. The way you excelled in school and the many complexed jobs you held only to befuddle your friends. You were underestimated.
Playing the jester to hide the many talents you possessed trying to fit in with the style of the day. Letting the plain folk know that you were just as shallow as them just so you could wear the, I’m just like you tag. Deep down you knew you would have been underestimated.
Scared of who you really are; a multitalented individual that has a unique way of looking at the world. Hell bent on not letting out those creative juices, but then you feel that people should stop underestimating.
Rise like the Phoenix and capture your place in the world. Grab that Gold ring that everyone is always fascinated with. Being underestimated will be the weapon of choice to right the insecurities.
For the words of intelligence that are now put down on paper will give the neighbors a different stare.
