Educationally Extinct
Once upon a time not to long ago there was a tremendous athlete. His skills were that of legendary status. His prowess on the court and field separated him from almost all others. His only problem, this athlete couldn’t read or write, making him Educationally Extinct.
Young men are told at a very young age, “Don’t worry about the grades pay attention to making that team.” They will eventually pay the price of becoming educationally extinct.
Too many times this scenario is being played out, too an alarming statistical number. My fear is that the Blackman starts to believe in his own physical intellect and soon forgets that he has a brain. Not challenging ones self with some sort of mental stimuli will surely put you on the road of Educational Extinction.
Big colleges and the media play too much of a role in bringing up our young men. Parents listening to others and seeing their number one draft pick as a dollar sign. Making money is a beautiful thing but what is the cost when both parties don’t have the education to spend the money, only to lose it.
These are just thoughts that I like to share with many others that see the same things. Now I’m sharing them with you. Far be it from me to say, but if we don’t improve the quality of our young and show them that the price has already been paid. They too will become Educationally Extinct.
