California educators, Janet Goliger, Carol J. Amato, and Edie Glaser have joined together to form the PMA Academic Publishers’ booth for this year''s L.A. Times/UCLA Festival of Books, April 26 – 27, 2008.
Janet Goliger, teacher, 2nd degree black belt and author of the award-winning self-defense book I NEED TO BE SAFE: I’M WORTH IT! (ISBN 978-0-9768273-2-0; CLASS Publications, June 1, 2006; Paperback: $19.95), will be signing her book Saturday and Sunday, April 26 – 27, at the L.A. Times Festival of Books, booth #928. "The book is written for children, parents and teachers. It is a proactive approach to safety that gives children the self-confidence to defend themselves in any threatening situation, conflict resolution to determine which self-defense approach to take if needed, and verbal and physical self-defense techniques to take action against any attacker," said Goliger.
Janet will also be launching her brand new teen safety and self-defense curriculum /ARE THEY SAFE? – C.L.A.S.S. Self-Defense Curriculum For Grades 7 – 12/ (ISBN 978-0-9768273-3-7; CLASS Publications, March 2008; Spiral: $24.95). "This is a continuation of the original C.L.A.S.S. Self-Defense Program for elementary and middle school children. The new book, a curriculum for middle and high school teachers, discusses teen issues concerning Internet safety, shakedowns, peer pressure, and harassment, along with step-by-step physical self-defense techniques to escape attackers, and ready-made lesson plans. It's important for kids of all ages to feel empowered and know that they can protect themselves. Edie Glaser will be signing her new children's book, All Children Have Different Eyes, a beautifully illustrated storybook about children with various forms of visual impairment who learn to play and make friends with kids at school and around the block.
