I am a board certified Holistic Nurse. I became an LPN in the early 70's and an RN in the early 80's. My years of nursing brought me to realize the missing link in nursing was total care of a human being as one who deserves care of the spirit with the body and mind. So I started Clayton College in 95 and obtained a BS and MS in Natural Health. Then by 2000 I finished her DR. SC. in Naturopathy with honors. Then I went on to complete the Holistic Nursing essays and protocols and took the certified Holistic nurses board in 2002.
My love of nursing has now come full circle with the knowledge of the mind, body, spirit, and holistic functions that are required in healing. The elderly deserve harmony where there is illness to be as whole a person they can be. I believe holistic nursing creates an atmosphere for better health.
I went to part time Nursing in 2000 and attempted to have a holistic practice. The community was not so accepting then unless they got free services. I am certified in the energy vitality technique which is sound healing using the solfagio scale tuners. This is sound healing at its best. I have studied energy balancing, acupressure, reflexology, relaxation techniques, counseling in all aspects of naturopathy and other interventions most frequently used in the Holistic Nursing Practice such as aromatherapy, art therapy, breathing techniques, counseling, touch therapy, goal setting, guided imagery, journaling, music and sound therapy, massage, meditation, holistic touch modalities, healing presence, play therapy, prayer,self- care interventions, and smoking cessation. Holistic Nursing is also a indepth training of end of life care.
This will be a benefit for staff care as well as client care. I would love to bring holistic concepts into staff training. Staff often need stress release to do a good job. I would to incorporate care for the care giver in a hospital.
Teaching staff who do not meet the qualifications for holistic nursing training the concepts of caring would enhance the qualitiy of nursing and direct staff care.
Theapeutic foot and hand reflexology to the patient with dementia and also provides a therapeutic touch to the patient.

Before that I had neuro, ER and CCU and that goes back to 1976. Before that I was a nurses aide. Nursing has been my entire life. I took care of a father that was a cardiac cripple from about 13 years on.
I have experience in long term care. I have experience in every area of nursing. My education has prepared me to be a bridge to all community resources and institutions, to all disciplines and nurses and from nurses to direct care staff.

Holistic Nursing embraces all nursing which has the enhancement of healing the whole person from birth to death as a goal. Holistic nursing recognizes these 2 views of holism. 1. identifying relationships of the bi0-psycho-spiritual dimensions of the persons. Realizing the the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Holism involves understanding the person as a unitary whole in mutual process with the environment. Holistic Nursing responds to both views. Believing that the goals of nursing can be achieved within either framework. Practicing Holistic Nursing requires nurses to integrate self -care, self-responsibility, spirituality, and reflection in their lives. Holistic Nursing studies the God/Life Force/Absolute/Transcendent. This awareness may further enhance the understanding of all individuals and all their relationships to the human and global community. Holistic Professionals use the awareness to facilitate the healing process.
