Author and attorney Jay Nussbaum's online video to help promote his new novel, "A Monk Jumped Over a Wall," is an interesting example of how the viral nature of web video is influencing marketing at practically every level and in numerous fields.
Nussbaum credits other writers with creating two-minute "trailers" of their books, but he says his approach, dramatizing an entire scene from his novel, sets it apart.
Various versions of his video have been viewed some 30,000 times, he notes, and his approach landed a lengthy feature at Newsday.
As a sidenote, Nussbaum's video dubbed "Nymphomercial" (featuring a bikini-clad lass) completely confuses YouTube's "Related Videos" engine, which displays everything from the infamous Miss South Carolina video to clips with "porn" in the title to cleavage shots to Lindsay Lohan. (Hmm -- on second thought, guess YouTube just defaulted to a general sampling of what's on the site!)
