White Winged Dove
by Lanette Kissel
Once lived a beautiful Dove with wings of white,
A Dove who led us from darkness into light.
The Dove showed us about faith and brotherly love,
And taught obedience to the Father above.
But they captured the Dove and clipped His wings.
They tortured Him and did such terrible things.
Fettered wings outstretched, forbidden to fly,
Wings nailed to a cross, condemned to die.
White wings soon tinted with crimson stain,
His broken wings and body, etched in pain.
Three days later, His spirit was released to fly,
Soar to His heavenly home with His Father on high.
Now we pray to the lovely white winged Dove
To safely enfold us in His wings of love.
