Award-Winning Children’s Author Susan Carnes Teams with National Children’s Charity Kids Wish Network to Bring Joy to Kids in Crisis

FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. - Author Susan Carnes sells her Moonbeam award-winning picture book My Champion at a special price designed to guarantee that $2 from every purchase goes directly to children’s charity Kids Wish Network. These proceeds will help to further the organization’s mission to bring joy into the lives of children in crisis nationwide.

Susan Carnes’ debut picture book My Champion is a beautifully illustrated tale that resonates for every child who has ever dreamed of being something other than him or herself. Through her masterful storytelling and magnificent oil paintings, Susan vividly shares the fun and sometimes harrowing experiences she had as a young girl with her best friend, a workhorse named Star.

All of the events that occur in the book helped Sue’s young character Tess learn some important life lessons that Sue hopes to share with children throughout the world: that you can accomplish wonderful things just as you are and that it is important to feel you are a part of something bigger than yourself.

Just last year, My Champion was awarded the gold Moonbeam Spirit Award for its “inspired writing, illustrations and enthusiasm.”

In her ongoing effort to reach out to children everywhere, Susan has now partnered with Kids Wish Network, a national children’s charity “dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories and improving the quality of life for children.” They achieve this mission through several key programs including Wish Granting for children with life-threatening illnesses; Hero of the Month for children in crisis who remain in the care of specialized pediatric facilities and shelters; and Holiday of Hope Gift Banks full of toys and games given out to hospitals and pediatric facilities nationwide.
