CONTROLLING PSEUDOFOLLICULITIS  BARBAE  (PFB)
              (Controlling Razor Bumps, Hair Bumps & Shaving Bumps)

SUMMARY
    Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB) is the medical term which can be applied to all of the skin inflamation conditions caused by shaving. These conditions are commonly known as Tough Beard Tender Skin (TBTS), Razor Bumps, Hair Bumps, Shaving Bumps, Ingrown Hairs, and Bikini Line Bumps. I am presenting a treatment for controlling PFB conditions caused by any mechanical shaving devices, such as safety razors, straight razors, electric razors, electric clippers, and scissors.

MISSION OBJECTIVE & PURPOSE

    a).   The Mission of this presentation is to provide information to all shavers who suffer from PFB, of a simple, effective, inexpensive method for controlling this irritating, aggravating & painful affliction.
   
    b).   The Objective of this presentation is help relieve the pain, aggravation, irritation, and suffering of shavers because of PFB.
   
    c).   The Purpose of this presentation is to provide help for shavers who suffers from PFB.

DEFINITIONS
   
    a).   Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB): A false infection of the hair follicle caused by the hair turning back into the skin.

     Note:  Although the above medical definition states “A false infection of the hair follicle caused by the hair turning back into the skin”. The pain, misery, Itching, and unsightly appearance caused by the irritation of the skin of the sufferer is by no means false! Because, the infected skin reacts by forming boils, pus, hair bumps, swellings, scabs, scar tissue, and painful itching.
 

    b).   Bikini Line Bumps:   Hair bumps resulting from shaving the upper area (Panty line) of the thighs.

           Note:  Bikini Line Bumps can become very unsightly, itching, irritating and painful because they occur in the panty line area. Once Bikini Line Bumps form, they are extremely difficult to get rid of, because they are constantly irritated by underwear fabrics.

    c).   Boil:   A skin mass formed just under the surface of the skin, caused by a hair turning back into the skin thereby irritating the skin.

           Note:   Boil formation due to shaving occurs because of the skin’s response to an ingrown hair. The ingrown hair is treated as a foreign invader by the skin. The skin then signals the body to send white blood cells to  the spot of the invasion. Boils are the results of the white blood cells attacks on ingrown hair(s). A boil may be composed of hardened or liquid pus and tissue.

    d).   Hair Bump: A skin mass (sometimes filled with pus) rising from the surface of the skin, caused by a hair turning back into the skin.

           Note:   A Hair Bump is formed because of the skin’s response to an ingrown hair. The ingrown hair is treated as a foreign invader by the skin. The skin signals the body to send white blood cells to the spot of the invasion. The pus in the hair bumps is the results of the white blood cells attack on the ingrown hair. Hair bumps can range from being very large painful protrusions to very small (tiny) irritating and or itching welts.   
          
    e).   Ingrown Hair: A hair which turns back into the skin instead of penetrating the surface of the skin to help form a beard.

           Note:   Sometime a hair will actually penetrate the surface of the skin and encounters a scar tissue. The scar tissue may force it to turn back into the skin and become an ingrown hair (hair bump).

       f).   Pus: An ingrown hair is treated as a foreign invader by the skin. When this occurs the skin signals the body to send white blood cells to the spot of the invasion. The pus (liquid) in hair bumps is the results of the white blood cells attack on the ingrown hair. Pus can become infected with germs and cause very serious skin conditions.

    g).   Shaving Bump: A skin mass (sometimes filled with pus) rising from the surface of the skin, caused by a hair turning back into the skin.

           Note:   A Shaving Bump is formed because of the skin’s response to an ingrown hair. The ingrown hair is treated as a foreign invader by the skin. The skin then signals the body to send white blood cells to the spot of the invasion. The pus in a shaving bump is the results of the white blood cells attack on the ingrown hair. Shaving bumps can range from being very large painful protrusions to very small (tiny) irritating and or itching welts.

    h).   Tough Beard Tender Skin (TBTS): A condition which may cause a shaver to be prone or susceptible to PFB.
    
PROPOSED TREATMENT FOR CONTROLLING PFB

    I am proposing the use of a scientifically formulated medicated shavers cream. A cream that is made from all natural plant ingredients, including Menthol, which are blended together in a non-greasy vanishing cream, designed to restore your skin to it’s natural texture, and keep it heathy, fresh, smooth and soft.
     There a several brands of these medicated shavers creams on the market. I have tested a few of them, and they all work very well.  Their prices ranges from about $10 for a one month supply in a two ounce jar
(Face Aid-Medicated Shavers Cream), to a full treatment regime costing about $60. Just a word of caution: read the labels very carefully to make sure they contain “No Harmful Ingredients”, and they are not “Depilatory Creams (Chemicals)”.
    I have personally found that the medicated shavers cream sold in a two ounce jar, which is about a one month supply, is usually enough to take care of minor PFB skin problems. However, these products do have to be used on a continuous basis as long as you shave. None of them are cures! They are treatment agents for controlling skin problems such as razor Bumps, hair bumps, shaving Bumps, ingrown hairs, and bikini line bumps: Skin problems that are due to shaving with mechanical devices such as: safety razors, straight razors, electric razors, electric clippers, and scissors.
