For pre-publicity purposes, I will be publishing a section of my forthcoming novel set during "The Great Depression" after the frenzy of the holidays die down.
I will be posting a section of the novel I call "Casey and the Hobos". It deals with "Hoovervilles", transient camps made out of whatever debris could be found that housed the families who could no longer pay their mortgages and were forced to live on the road via the rails. Some called them hobos. As with any segment of society, we have the good and the bad. During this era, hobos were viewed with suspicion and disdain (and in some cases, it was not warranted). How little did I realize when I started this novel over a year ago, "The Backside of Yesterday" is now deja vu in the worse sense due to our current economic meltdown, we are too uncomfortably close to having history repeat itself. Could we stand to live like some of the folks some 70 ago. I think not.
