Dear Participant;
I learned first-hand what it means to be a 20th century "slave"; spending a huge part of each year working to pay interst on consumer debt. I had lots of excuses too for why I was in debt: I was divorced with three kids; the kids were in school and needed lots of things; my mother was old and infirmed and needed things; I did not always have the cash-flow to take care of urgent needs.
One day I woke up to the reality that regardless of my apparent lack of cash-flow, if I did not stop using credit cards and signature loans to finance my consumer spending, I would be spending more and more of my year working for the various creditors from whom I was borrowing.
In a very decisive moment, I cut up my credit cards and made a pledge to myself that I would not be adding any more to my consumer debts. Instead, I was going to live within my means and get out of debt as soon as possible. Thus begun my journey into "living on a cash economy".
The ideas in this workbook are examples of skills, concepts, tenets, habits and focus that I had to practice, to completely change my life. I dedicate this workbook to my family and friends and to all who are willing to exercise the courage to break through to debt-free living.
