Excerpt from the The Inspiration Corner

Hebrews 12:1 “Let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race this is set before us.”It was a warm spring afternoon. I stood beneath the orange tree nestled in our backyard, plucking ripe fruit and placing them carefully in a basket. While underneath the tree I looked directly up the center of it and saw an amazing sight. On the underside of a rich green leaf rested a snail. I was bewildered as I realized that this slow moving little creature had somehow traveled all the way up the tree trunk, along the branches and eventually settled under what he must have considered the perfect leaf. This could not have been an easy task. To my further amazement, I found another snail at the bottom of the trunk attempting to make the same journey. How could it be? How could these snails manage to reach their appointed course? The answer--perseverance. I wonder if on the long climb up the six foot tree, the snail wanted to quit? I wonder if at some point he thought, “forget the leaf, I’ll settle for a nice cozy rock on the ground.” We can only imagine what those persevering snails were thinking. Our own journey in life is not much different than that of the snails. We have a purpose, a destination. We also have a choice to settle for a rock on the ground or to persevere toward our God appointed green leaf. Like the snail, we must trek along with patient endurance and steady and active persistence in order to reach the appointed course set before us—in order to reach our purpose.
