They were really impressive.

The attendees at last week's Harvard publishing conference pitched almost a hundred books for agents and editors and I was really impressed at teh talent pool. I pitched a book proposal I've been working on for a few years regarding the rise of laparoscopic operations and the complications they caused in the early years. The book explores how surgeons ridiculed lap operations because we were still in the days of radical cures and painful incisions (not their incisions, mind you). I'm hoping the insights in the book - if it gets picked yp - will help you understand how to choose a surgeon today as operations are becoming even more complicated.

We live in a complicated world and surgery is no exception. Advocacy books for patients are really necessary and the good news is that a lot of doctors are out there writing them. I'm working on one for potential surgical patients.

At the conference there were a preponderance of psych types both 'iatrists and 'ologists. Very impressive people writing about everything from addiction to child raising techniques.
