In observance of the current surge of interest in the life and works of famed Beat author Jack Kerouac, another half-way sorta-somewhat well-known author is hosting a kind of party on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/aberjhani .

 
Along with writers Allen Ginsberg, Diane Di Prima, William Burroughs, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Bob Kaufman, and many others, Kerouac provided the 1950s-1960s Beat movement with some of its most significant titles. One of those titles is the classic novel On the Road, for which a 50th anniversary edition has just been released.

“Aside from the fiftieth anniversary edition of On the Road,” said author-poet Aberjhani, “a new biography on Kerouac by Douglas G. Brinkley, a study of his work called Why Jack Kerouac Matters, by John Leland, and a volume containing the famous original scroll of his manuscript for On the Road have all come out just this week. That’s one helluva commemoration for a writer who left us back in 1969 but whose literary reputation seems to grow stronger every year.”
