After tagging eight intriguing locations to visit and film as part of its 2011 American Cities Tour, the C-SPAN television network’s Local Content Vehicles (LCV) team have hit the road to do exactly that. Among the cities on its itinerary is that of Savannah, Georgia, hometown of The American Poet Who Went Home Again author Aberjhani.

The LCV team shot footage of Savannah during the first week of June and will present programs culled from that footage June 25 and 26 on its Book TV (C-SPAN 2) and American History (C-SPAN 3) channels. In addition to filming many of the city’s famous sites, the team met with numerous authors and historians, including Charles Elmore, author of All that Savannah Jazz; Martha Keber, author of Seas of Gold, Seas of Cotton; and Vaughnette Goode-Walker, Barry Sheehy, and Cindy Wallace, co-authors of Savannah, Immortal City. One of 2011’s top selling books about the area, Savannah, Immortal City was published in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War.

“Editing deadlines and other special project obligations didn’t allow me to break away and participate in any of the events C-SPAN filmed in Savannah,” said Aberjhani, “but members of the Civil War Savannah book series team—Goode-Walker, Sheehy, and Wallace— for which I’ve been serving as editor, were interviewed for the programs so I’m looking forward to watching them.”
