It's the summer of 1862, July 27^th. Nathan S. Clark marries Sarah, his sweetheart of 2 years. The following day, he musters in as orderly sergeant of the Masardis Militia to help raise volunteers for the Maine Volunteer Infantry in answer toPresident Lincoln's call for 300,000 more volunteers to bolster the Union's efforts to put down the rebellion that has torn the Nation in two for over a year.

Follow Nathan, his good friend George Buck and 70 other men of Aroostook County as they become Citizen Soldiersin the effort. In August they will say their sad good byes to their families and sweethearts as they leave for Bangor to join 900 othervolunteers that have answered the call. They will become The 20^th Maine Regiment.

Disease, the fields around Antietam, the cold fiery hell at Fredericksburg. The daunting day at Gettysburg in July 1863.
