Would Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have won 18 and 14 major golf championships respectively (as well as a number of lesser tournaments) if it hadn’t been for two plane crashes?
One involving “Champagne” Tony Lema who crashed in 1966 at the age of 32 having won 22 professional tournaments including The British Open Championship at St. Andrews. The other involving Payne Stewart who crashed in 1999 at the age of 42 having won 24 professional tournaments including a PGA Championship and two Open Championships.
