The Independent Press Award just announced its 2020 winners and distinguished favorites. Among the winners was Patrick Finegan''s début novel, Cooperative Lives (Literary Fiction).
Winner of 20 domestic and international book awards, Cooperative Lives follows the misadventures of two middle-aged, multi-racial families in a storied luxury co-op. The tenants lead generally comfortable, separate lives until a minor traffic accident triggers a series of investigations that expose them to unrelenting media scrutiny. Cooperative Lives is a novel about the fragility and resilience of bonds – between family members, co-workers, lovers and neighbors – when tested by illness, differences of class, race, religion and age, seemingly trivial misjudgments, and unwelcome outside attention. It was written post-9/11 but before the 2016 election (or corona virus) in a world not yet untethered by rampant nationalism.
Cooperative Lives is available in multiple formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and numerous booksellers, and can be ordered POD from Ingram.
