Please sign-up for me newsletter. Newsletter Dated: 3/24/2005 1:23:46 PMSubject: Forget Schmidt! This is All About Kenny. Sorry I'm just now getting to this. We got home late last night.
Aside from the fact that I've only had 6 hours sleep over 48 hours personally and drinking green tea like a whale siphons krill. (And if not for DoubleX I doubt if I'd be able to even put a conherent sentence together.
Kenny's cardiologist, Dr. Jeffrey Breall (look him up online) looked at the ingredients and said this: "These aren't good. . . .they're EXCELLENT". (. . . and four out of five dentists surveyed say. . . .) LOL
Well, years of evidence of bad fast food eating was all over Kenny's coronary tree, as most Americans. That was treated with Plavix and Lipitor, probably for the rest of his life. The scary thing was the 80 percent blockage of one of the three main arteries. This affected the main artery off the aorta that runs right down the front of his heart.
Other than his EKG he showed no signs. But Kenny was unusually short of breath when he entered the hospital at 6:15 a.m. Monday March 21st. He was looking forward to this, very positive, but was breathing heavier and had a hard time walking to the cath lab that 26 degree day that supposedly signaled "Spring Day." The chilly temperature brought out further evidence that may have not been picked up if the weather had been warmer. The hidden blockage was at that moment starting to take its toll on my husband's life.
So if not for the prostate cancer preop, he could have had a heart attack.
God's timing is amazing!
His angioplasty opened up that area. Seventy percent of that was cleared. His ECG is strong and normal. Dr. Breall didn't put a stint in because if he did, that would delay his prostate cancer surgery for another 2-6 months. Since it's agressive, obviously they don't want to put that off. This may mean, of course, missing April Business Leadership (big bummer!) but Kenny is the priority for now, and praise the Lord for Nutrilite!!!
He is on plavix, aspirin and lipitor, more than likely, for life. Also no fried foods, zero salt (meaning no more Arby's, his favorite place. Deli meats of any kind ARE NOT HEALTHY. You have as well eat about 1/4 cup of salt plain when dining at any fast food set up.
Now we think, "fast food, fast death." And this is no exaggeration in Kenny's case. The cath lab was overflowing with people of all ages with heart problems. Smokers and drinkers seemed to have the worse prognosis. Kenny's cardiologist was amazed as to how well he handled the procedure. He kept commenting to me that for as much blockage as he had, and being awake for the entire procedure, that Kenny pulled thru better than anyone he'd ever done this procedure on. His healing was very much accelerated and the doctor is convinced that his vitamins, his losing 12 pounds and altered diet ahead of time played a big part in his rapid recovery. He's still on a weight loss plan that is working for both of us. Mostly just eating sensibly, raw and non-processed foods I prepare at home. AND NO SALT!
We also give God credit first and foremost for having knowledge to do the right thing as He led us to do.
"Good to know that the prayers of the righteous availeth much, as well as good positive thoughts of love and care.
As for all of you out there, don't get too "into" the low carb hype. If we exercise our bodies as they were designed to do, and replenish them with non-polluted foods sanctioned by the FDA (who says it's alright for fast foods, even places like Subway and Arby's to sell even salads with high sodium levels) and QUESTION YOUR MEDICAL CARE PROFESSIONALS WHO DESERVE TO BE QUESTIONED BY ALL INTELLIGENT CONSUMERS, then we have a strong chance of letting foodmakers and manufacturers know we're not going to allow them to poison our children like they've poisoned us.
If salt in food was crack cocaine, we'd all be scratchin' and survivin'. READ those labels ya'll. And put your health above "giving your taste buds a quickie."
Keeping you all close to our hearts. By the way, to show how there are some things that humans cannot control, (like Kenny's personal urologist having no idea on who was the best qualified cardio specialist in the area), here's Dr Breall's CV.
He was "a suggestion" given to Dr. Foster: http://vascularbiomed.iu.edu/people/cv/breall.html
