Hi Kiddies,
Happy June!

Well here we are half way through the year already...can you believe it? It seems like only yesterday we were cruising Center Street on hot summer nights, or hanging out up in ze Bunny Hut, windows open, cool breeze from the lake coming in listening to Fog Hat and Led Zepplin. Here I sit in sunny, hot Florida a few years later doing the same thing. Listening to the same music, but for some reason it is just not the same...

How are ya?

I am great. Getting ready to leave for a well earned vacation next week. (Well it has been a year since I went on a vacation-vacation!). Next week we leave for the Mayan Palace in beautiful, scenic Acapulco. Yes, I will drink a pina colada for you all while I am laying on the beach hoping someone does not try to net me and throw me back into the water! I will think of you all fondly, fondly!!

Well, to the good stuff...I have a new publisher for ALL of my books. I must jump up and down and let you all know who it is.....Ocean Publishing! They are from Flagler Beach, Florida. Yes, the searching and waiting was hard, but I am so glad that they wanted ME! SO...what does this mean. This means since LIN MEADOWS and I have also finished the screenplay for "Fly", and yes it has already been sent off to Oprah to see if she might like it, that "Fly" will be released for Christmas 2003 to be sold in hardback and softback, national distributorship, the whole deal. This also means BOOK TOURS again...so yes, Hoosiers I will be coming up thy way in the new year. Hopefully, back to Warsaw this time with a couple of books in tow for another signing at the famous Ramada, or somewhere....maybe out at the cemetery gates or the Flagpole? Look for the new revised "Fly" to give you MORE of what your really had wanted to know all along and more about the teachers we all loved Mr. Whitney, Mr. Musgrave, Ms. Everson and more!

Ocean Publishing is also going to re-release "Passing Thoughts" - thickah, updated, better edited, better cover (not so chick book looking!), etc.

"Danczah" hopefully will be following in the spring - The sequel to "Fly" - The College Years.

Hopefully someone will buy the screenplay in between all of this (Oprah, Lifetime, WE or HBO), and also the fourth book, "Trying Hard" will also come out next year.

In between all of this I am still going to be the Director of the "Open Mic Jacksonville" series - which is a collection of area poets/writers writing their little hearts out to raise money for the Literacy Council. To ice the cake on that one - MOI and "Open Mic Jacksonville" are the Center Story in the JUNE 2003 issue of POETRY NOW MAGAZINE - Europe's #1 Poetry Magazine! NO KIDDING!! Can you just die?! I am so excited!

Of course I now owe my life to DAVID TAUB my fav English journalist, FRANK GROMLING,my new publisher, KAY DAY, my fantastic bud and editor...I am adding them to the many, many, many on my list (BESIDES YOU!) who have gotten moi where I am today! No Diva's here baby!
Martha Stewart - Oh my God you poor woman! BUT what goes around comes around...that is my motto! Watch out Jim and Evie yours is still a coming! (Shame on me did I say that?).

There is too much going on for the calender this month - so I am not going to even list it all. If you want to know about FWA meetings, B&N classes, any of that - JAX FOLKS - CALL ME or E-me and I will fill you in completely!

The rest of ya...you can find me in Acapulco. We are leaving on Friday the 13th! (Oh my God what luck!)
