Hello again, everyone!

Despite more book reviews and coverage coming up soon for my books Degranon, Holding Me Together, The Acorn Stories, and New Readings of Winesburg, Ohio, all the current news involves The Acorn Gathering. As most of you know, I edited and co-wrote that fiction collection, with all royalties going to fund cancer cure research.

Golden Triangle News (http://www.goldentrianglenews.com/), in Cut Bank Montana, recently wrote a feature article on Bill Wetzel, a Native American author and film-maker who wrote two of the stories for The Acorn Gathering. In that article, Bill discussed his creative interests, his education, his background as a Blackfeet Indian, and why The Acorn Gathering meant so much to him.

Since the opening story for Gathering involves Native American culture, I had joined an online Native American writers’ group to get feedback on that story. Bill learned about the project there. Besides contributing two of the stories, he has helped a great deal with publicity, so the book can raise more money for its cause.

Huda Orfali, The Acorn Gathering’s only non-American author, recently left her Syrian home for a while, so she can pursue a master’s degree in Peace Studies. Those studies took her to the University of Bradford, in the UK.

I came across Huda’s work online a few years ago, and encouraged her to compile her poems and stories into a book. She took my advice, and that led to her first internationally published book, Blue Fire. She followed that with the short story collection Flower in the Cold. Huda has also had a chapbook of poetry published in Arabic.

Authors Ronald L. Donaghe and W. Brian Moore both recently reviewed Gathering for Amazon.com. Brian also wrote a much longer review of it for QBliss.Net, a gay website (http://www.qbliss.net/).

Ron is the best-selling author of several novels, including Common Sons. Besides writing for QBliss, Brian is working on two books!

Now, author L. L. Lee has reviewed Gathering for bn.com (Barnes & Noble.Com). Lee is the author of four books, and a contributor to the newest Chicken Soup book, Chicken Soup for the Sister’s Soul.
