While some of you are suffering the sweltering heat of summer, here in Ontario we're seeing the last vestiges of winter. Yesterday and today, we had snow flurries, but flowers are already poking out their heads in the garden, so spring weather can't be far behind.

The feature story for this week comes from a woman and fellow writer by the name of Mandi who lives in Lake Villa, Illinois. She has kindly written the piece herself about a mysterious woman from the other side who helped care for her as a baby.


Female spirit saves Mandi from imminent death


I was born in 1971 in Chicago. My grandparents owned three cottages in Union Pier Michigan and naturally, my first summer was spent there. One evening a week into our stay, my mother put me in my crib for the night and then went to bed in the room across the hall. Later that night, she felt someone shaking her awake. It was very dark in those days in the country but the only person it could be was her mother, my grandmother, as we were all the only ones there that week.

My grandmother shook my mother again and said "The baby!" My mother jumped up, stumbled to my crib and found me with my head tightly wrapped in my blanket. I was gasping for breathe. She quickly unwrapped me and took me to bed with her.

The next morning, my mother immediately went to find my grandmother and said "Why didn't you pick up Mandi last night? Why the hell would you come and wake me before saving her?"

My grandmother replied, "What are you talking about?? I never woke up last night!"

This could easily be dismissed as a "mother's intuition." But my mother told me once she was shaken awake, she clearly heard a woman's voice and felt the second shake.


Many years later when I was 20 and my daughter was 3, we went to the cottages for a week. I had not thought of the woman for a long time, but on the drive there, I mentioned her to my grandmother.

I figured she would laugh at me. Instead she said, "Oh you mean Lady!" I was stunned!

"You saw her too?" I cried.

"Of course I did! Who do you think saved your life as a baby?" She replied with a smile.

My grandmother went on to tell me how after the incident with the blanket, she started to catch glimpses of a woman in the shadows. She said that she also was never afraid and always felt a soothing motherly feeling with her around. She even caught me several times talking to "Lady."

This intrigued me as I could not remember that.

My grandmother continued: "I would come to your room in the morning so your mom could sleep in a little. Some mornings you would already be awake sitting up in your crib. One such day, you were reaching your arms up to the unseen. Just as I was going to walk in the room, the curtains fluttered and you said, "Lady" as well as a toddler can.

I began to cry when my grandmother told me this. A flood of memories came back to me then.

Later during my following years in Union Pier, "Lady" was always around. She was about 40 and tall with beautiful auburn hair. She wore it up in a huge bun on the top of her head and always wore long skirts with a high waisted sash. Whenever I smell starch to this day, I catch a memory of a long-sleeved white blouse and "Lady" smiling at me. We were always outside back then and I recall her always being at the edge of the woods, and then in a flash being right next to me almost trying to embrace me. I never felt afraid of her and always felt an overwhelming feeling of love when she was around.

I believe now that this woman was a ghost and that she was very fond of me. I don't think she thought I was HER child though. I do not ever recall her following us outside of our property and certainly not back home to Chicago.

While I was in Michigan with my daughter, I did not see her but I am sure I felt her. If not the real "Lady" at least her love.

Re: Article on The Jesus Tomb documentary

I too watched a part of the Documentary mentioned in your newsletter. I will be watching for it to come again, as I missed the beginning. I absolutely believe it could be true. I recently bought the book "The Mystical Life of Jesus" by Sylvia Browne and I can't tell you how much more sense Jesus' life and purpose makes in this book than what I ever learned through church and religion. Like you, I believe he was a great man and teacher with an important message to share with us all. And it makes perfect sense to me that his purpose here was to teach us how to live a good life. What better way to teach, than to lead by example and show us what it means to be a good son, loving father and devoted husband. I feel to deny Jesus' example as a father and husband is truly a disservice to all of us, as well as to his messages that he taught. I highly recommend "The Mystical Life of Jesus". It put a lot of things about his life into great perspective for me. I admire and respect Jesus, Mary and Mary Magdalene even more after reading this book.
