1. EDITORIAL:

Hello everyone and welcome new subscribers. Hope you are all enjoying a splendid summer! We finally had a getaway this past weekend in Galveston to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a grand time, even in the Texas heat. There were no responses to the AOL added html last week so I will return to my normal way of doing the newsletter. I hope it works for everyone. Special thanks to all who read, rated and commented on my last poem and article. Thank you, thank you! I have a new article up this week {actually it’s a recipe!} called Flourless Chocolate Cake. I also have a new poem up called Wings of Wonder. I hope you find time to read them and leave a comment if you’re so inclined. Thanks. Well, more paying markets in this week’s issue! 2. TRIVIA/FACTS:

August 15, 1456 - The Gutenberg Bible, the first book printed from a movable type, was dated by hand. Printed by the German Johann Gutenberg, its exact date of publication is unknown. Gutenberg probably printed about 180 copies, of which 20 complete copies are extant. The Gutenberg Bible is the oldest surviving printed book in Europe.

Yes, there is a Chef Boyardee, although his name is not spelled that way. Hector Boiardi, an Italian immigrant, came to the United States in 1914 when he was only 17. Upon his arrival, he immediately got a job as a chef at New York's Plaza Hotel, where his brother worked as a waiter. After moving to Cleveland, he perfected his spaghetti and meatball recipe in 1929. His customers kept asking for bottles of his pasta sauce so they could have it at home, and he obliged. He then added cheeses and pasta to the sauce. The results were so popular that he started to sell the products in area stores, and later in stores outside the area. Boiardi remained an advisor in the canned pasta business until his death at age 87 in 1985. And yes, that is Hector's picture on the label.
