1. EDITORIAL:
Hello again everyone! Lots of good stuff to share with you this week. Thanks to all of you who read, rated and left such endearing comments to my poem, ‘O Glorious Sky’. I am overwhelmed! I’m hoping I’ll have a new write up for next week. I’ve felt writers block for the past few weeks and am only now feeling the muse return again. Thankfully! Here’s something I read in the New York Times yesterday. “The Web magazine Salon, facing sharply lower advertising revenues and increased costs for gathering news, has decided to make its news and political coverage available only to paying subscribers... Salon charges $30 for a one-year subscription and $50 for two years.” This seems to be the new growing trend of the Internet. To read this in further detail, click here:

October 3, 1981 - A hunger strike at the Maze prison in Belfast ended after seven months and 10 deaths.

Did You Know? Most dinosaurs lived to be more than a hundred years old.
Did You Know? The guillotine was originally called a louisette. Named for Antoine Louis, the French surgeon who invented it. It became known as the guillotine for Joseph Ignace Guillotin, the French physician.
Did You Know? No one truly has double joints. Contortionists are actually able to stretch the fibrous tissues known as ligaments. Ligaments hold organs in place and fasten bones together. Ligaments normally restrict the movements of certain joints, but some folks find that their ligaments are more flexible than others.
Did You Know? Parrots, most famous of all talking birds, rarely acquire a vocabulary of more than twenty words. However, Tymhoney Greys and African Greys have been known to carry vocabularies in excess of 100 words.

Stay tuned for a page about our Asheville experience, September 5-11. Recognize that last date? That's right. Our flight was cancelled, but we made it back in a rental car. While we were deciding what to do, we were staying at the Light Center in Black Mountain, NC. It was so beautiful and peaceful there that it was hard to believe that anything like that had happened. There is a house for guests and a short walk away is the Light Center with it's geodesic dome, where we prayed a lot after the disaster.
