Il pleut sur la grande cité
Le vent soufle sur les champs remplis d'épis
En formant un spectacle attrayant.

Le vent suffocant siffle des chants chevrotants
En faissant tomber ces épis
Autant que les nobles idéaux d'autrefois
Tombent de la plus haute tour de la ville.

Chiquement, des hommes d'existence aventureuse s'attroupent atristés
Et en mordant l´hamecon, claquent leur propre vies clignotantes.
En leur orgueil, aucunement s'apercoivent de l'assombrissement du champ
détourné.

Il se pleure a la grande cité.
Le vent vole sur les épis pietinés
En dévoilant un fait avéré:
Dressé, un roc brut et chevronné auparavant méprisé.

CRYING MINDS BY CARLOS IGNACIO BOVER

Mankind tracking mankind’s paths;

Smoothing steps on soothing ways.

Relieving pain from conscience’s guilt

Demanding faith to bow at hilt.



Its human’s night dismissing light.

The so called knights! Though no-one fight...

For as they long for fair sleep

Neglect the way, and then they slip.



Starving famine not for loaf;

Crying minds for ancient oaths.

Empty cheering, conceited toasts

While others lack what matters most.



Nonchalant hosts of blinds appal

Contemptuous stare at what is fair.

And shall they never know

Why of peace they are bare

Nor that they continuously fall

At a hunter’s snare?

Flavia Cosma was born and raised in Romania. She took her Master's in electrical engineering at the Polytechnical Institute of Bucharest. After that, she studied drama for two years. In Romania she worked as a radio and television sound director. She emigrated to Canada in 1976. She continues to work in this field and is also an independent producer/director/writer for TV documentaries.

Peace
I was explored by a new peace
And I smelled of the earth of flowers, of rain --
Space danced with a doe's feet,
Slim, sensual;
I took in the world as light.
A new understanding,
Perhaps known earlier,
Forgotten once --
I recognized your name
Without shaking the gates of sleep.
Beyond the senseless verge of memory,
I rested between seasons,
Smiled.

Y sentí el perfume de la tierra,
de la lluvia y de la flor.

El espacio danzaba con pies de gama,
Sensual y refinado.
Del mundo tomé lo iluminado
.
Un nuevo entendimiento universal,
Tal vez conocido alguna vez
Y luego olvidado.
Reconocí tu nombre, paz,
Sin golpear las puertas del sueño.
Más allá de las insensibles verjas de la memoria.
Descansé entre las estaciones...

You Are the Water



You are the water,
My soul is a stream,
Flowing through my heart
Is fresh and clear water.
Listen to your drops of music
Which fall from an eternal spring.
It waters the flowers of your love,
Embracing me forever.

So your flowering water
Caresses my golden soul,
It calms the anguish of my burning thirst.

Oh! How beautiful is the water
In your crystal-clear stream.
It is a diaphanous thread of shining water.

2 Poems of the week

IF ONLY THERE WERE PEACE

I've always loved the patter
of a rain in spring and fall;
it really doesn't matter
the month -- I love them all.
I love to see the sprinkling
of colors in the spring,
and the red and yellow wrinkling
of leaves that autumns bring.
I stand in awe and wonder
of an open starry sky
and love to hear the thunder
of a storm that's coming nigh --
and feel as one who's spellbound
when I come back to the sea
after wand'ring ages inland,
and I see it suddenly.
No there is no end of wonders;
I could rave without surcease;
but then I'd have to stop and add:
"If only there were peace!"

I could celebrate the cities,
the villages and towns,
and sing in simple ditties
of all that here abounds,
of the hillsides that are sprinkled
with a thousand yellow lights
where so often I have mingled
to pass my mortal nights.
I could tell of love's enchantments
and all they've meant to me
and the faces I have worshipped
as God's own poetry,
and you'll know I've only hinted
at the wonders of this earth,
the sadness and the splendor,
the rubbish and the worth!
Oh yes, I'd sing its praises
though "short is summer's lease" --
but then I'd have to stop and add:
"If only there were peace!"
