I have come to the conclusion that I am an Internet Idiot; I have not one bona-fide techy nerve-ending in my noggin. I comprehend nothing beyond the command Click Here. The problem is, when I click there, I am led into a deeper abyss of confusion and frustration.
With the publishing business in the desperate straits of an economic morass and floundering in the doldrums of profit and loss, I have decided to offer my first novel for sale via the Internet. I would like you to be able to access it, download it to read on your computer, or print it out in manuscript form — in other words, enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
And less than it would cost in regular form — at the same time, saving you the hassle of schlepping to a book store and dealing with the clerks-in-charge — or, worse yet, buying it and having to pay s/h fees.
With publisher and agent’s hands in my pocket, I normally make about two dollars (if I’m lucky) when a book is sold. By selling my book online, I get to keep almost the entire purchase price, minus a pittance for my money collector and Internet host. And you get to read my story of intense excitement and literary marvel for cheap!
What do I write? I write novels from which blockbuster movies and TV scenarios can be made, stories about people and events with which everyone identifies. Why do I write? That’s what writers do: they write.
For example, the first book I want to offer is called THE BETTER ANGELS, a 400+ page coming of age yarn about a couple of teenagers who become inextricably immersed in World War II.
An intense, exciting, and suspenseful novel with non-stop action, romance, drama, and comedy, it reads with the visual impact of a major movie.
Here’s what some previous readers had to say:
Every young actor in Hollywood will want to play Shadow. Angie Harmon has to be Anna Theresa . . . Sarah Donahoe
This novel will make a doozy of a movie! The Biltmore House climax is sheer genius … Gregory Landry
What if you could own and read this story of historical fiction online for only $9.95 to download?
This is a World War II thriller/comedy/romance in the classic style of literary Americana rarely seen since FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY, and RALLY ROUND THE FLAG, BOYS.
Civilians flying military aircraft? Terrorists and assassins infiltrating the Executive Branch? Fiction? Fantasy? Perhaps, depending on what one might uncover wading through forgotten files at the Pentagon!
A combination of nostalgia and high-intensity suspense . . . reminded [us] of Max Shulman at his best . . . A humorous look at a young man’s life during WWII . . . says Writers Digest.
A resurgence of interest in World War II is part of a curious obsession among baby boomers for their daddies war … says Jay Bookman of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
If you like Grisham, Clancy, Kootz and Irving — you will love this guy Mills. . . Frederick Weaver
Last time I looked there were only eight World War II classics. Now there are nine… Penny Norman
Tremendously thrilling. Brought back vivid memories of that frightful, exciting time! . . . Martha Rumsey
I hated to finish it — like saying goodbye to three good friends. Scenes at Biltmore are sensational! . . . Lee Wedgeworth
This extraordinary novel captures the spirit of America and the south when, in mid-20th century, the better angels of our nature, of an entire nation, dropped their diapers, spread their wings, and came of age.
When will THE BETTER ANGELS be available online? Stay tuned. It is coming soon to a computer near you! (If you had to pay the $40 original fee to become an annual subscriber, that is! Otherwise . . . it will appear right here.)
