A Welcome:

Good afternoon to all of you, and welcome to the first issue of my newsletter. The newsletter will go out whenever I have news to share. At times this may be infrequently, but at least I will not be clogging your email for nothing.

The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you of what is going on with my writing career, as well as in my personal life.

My daughters and I are busy beginning our 8th homeschool year. There is much planning to be done first, so I will spend all of next week doing this. Then we will begin the school year. So far we know that they will be doing World Studies, Writing Strands and Earth Science. We are not sure about math yet. They each have their own studies as well. For example, Zowie will be learning Criminology and Forensics.

I am busy marketing my free sample homeschool ebook, as well as The Down Home(School) Gazette. This is a time consuming job, but it will be worth it in the end. I am trying to find as many free ways to market the items as I can, then I will start marketing with ways I have to pay a little bit for. Let's face it, if I spend all of money on marketing, I will not be seeing any profits.

Happenings:

So much is going on here.

1. I created two author websites for my self. I am working on the AuthorsDen.com website right now: http://www.authorsden.com/shannonlbuck. It allows me to post my articles for people to read, as well as to market my sample book. It also provides me with a blog.

My main author website is at http://www.shannonbuck.com. This is where I describe all of the projects that I am working on, as well as where I post all of my news, and the complete list of articles that I have available for you to read. It will most likely be updated more often than the AuthorsDen site will.

2. The Homeschool Mom of 2 Website has recently been updated with all new content. Visit http://www.thehomeschoolmomof2/

I signed up to attend October's author workshops and chats through http://www.freewebs.com/themuseonlinewritersconference/.I cannot wait for this, as I will be attending two chats and a workshop headed by one of my favorite authors. Her name is C. Hope Clark, and is the author of The Shy Writer, and the FundsforWriters newsletter.

7. I am listing all of the free and low cost ways that I can find to market my writings. Once I am done listing, I will combine all of the ideas into my WordPerfect program so that I can print a copy for each item that I need to market. I can then check off things as I do them.

8. I am also planning my schedule for the school year, mapping out all of the steps that I need to write, market and publish the gazette and my other writings.
