In the 19th century, Puppet Master Jake (Jacob Schachter) would have been known as a Punch Professor due to the style of paper mache puppet with which he creates and performs is the same sort associated with the Punch and Judy shows of old. Jake’s strangely funny flowing patter is also influenced by radio drama. He likes to think of himself as a legend because he has shared the spotlight with music stars from Phish to Thurston Moore. Jake is 36, proudly lives in Jamaica Plain and works with the animals at the zoo! The Puppet Master has performed at Club Passim, The Puppet Showcase Theatre, The Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center, and Bad Girrls Studios, and has worked with the Burlesque Revival Association and Shadow Box Collective. Tonight Jake hopes to entertain you with his wit and homemade creatures...

Ian Thal began performing as a spoken word artist, requently appearing at Bad Girrls Studios and La Fete Du Sisk art and music festivals before taking up mime, studying primarily with James Van Looy with whom he cofounded Cosmic Spelunker Theater. His poetry has appeared in such magazines as Flash!Point, Poesy, Ibbetson Street Press, and Crooked River Press and has been anthologized in the forthcoming BOOM! For Real, and Subway Anthology (New York: P & Q Press.) He reviews poetry for Ibbetson Street Press,The Jewish Advocate, and The Jewish Journal. Ian also had a several month run as the host of the MIT Electronic Research Society’s Show + Tell, an open mic for performance art and mad science and is a former board member of Stone Soup Poets. His poetry was also included in WOTS=WORD ON THE SITE as part of the 2003 Boston Cyberarts Festival. Recently, Thal has performed at Club Passim, Zeitgeist Gallery, Out of the Blue Gallery, AS220, Bowery Poetry Club, and Green Street Studios.
