The fifth Stan Turner Mystery, Deadly Distractions, is finished and I'm looking for a few volunteer editors to read the first galley and give me some feedback. As you know Stan Turner has a propensity for getting sucked into impossible cases. In Deadly Distractions Stan's client is found, shotgun in hand, standing over the body of a dead IRS agent. My first non-fiction book, Yes, We're open will be out this summer. Over the years I've defended hundreds of small business owners in trouble and decided I'd put together a book on that topic. It's a light, entertaining read designed to illustrate why small businesses fail and how they can be saved. My marketing plan for this book will be different---primarily radio talk shows I hope. If anyone would like a sneak preview of Yes, We're Open I might have a few extra galleys available. Let me know. The release date will be July or August but the galleys will be available in a week or two.

Now that I've been all across the country I'm going to concentrate on Texas and neighboring states for the next few months. I'll be heading for San Angelo, Midland, Odessa, Waco, College Station, Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and Austin.

Since I started writing I've been to Shreveport, LA on several occassions and every time I go there the experience gets better and better. The first time I went there I sent a press packet to the local newspaper as did the local Barnes & Noble. Two days before my appearance there was a great feature story on me. The reporter who wrote the story was sick the next day and another reporter wrote a second feature article that appeared that day. All that great publicity paid off and over the years I've developed a nice following. In fact, the Barnes & Noble CRM told me when I was there a few weeks ago that the Stan Turner Mysteries are popular there all year round.
