Welcome New Subscribers!

I’m glad you’ve all signed up for this crazy ride and have decided you want to give my stories a try.

If djinns, ghosts, succubi or other mythological beings that go bump in the night are your jam, then you've come to the right place! If supernatural stories about psychics, reincarnation, time travel and wiccans arouse your curiosity (among other things 😉) then you’ve come to the right place.

Did I also mention spicy, sensual, erotic romance? Well, those are in my catalogue too. Just know, though my stories can be dark, and I take my characters through various trials and tribulations, they all get an HEA at the end. Always. Unless it’s my horror stories. For those, enter at your own risk 😂

The stories you will find in my catalogue include all of the above paranormal elements and beings and more. The characters are everyday people just like you and me, trying to survive and find love in a crazy mixed-up world. Okay, most of them might have a few gifts here and there that the rest of us don't, but otherwise, they are just like you and me, just a little larger than life😃

I believe I have a little something that all romance readers can appreciate. So sit back, enjoy the trip and stay abreast of what’s coming next!

======================================================
Welcome back to this issue of The G-Spot!
Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Summer so far and had a happy, healthy and safe Fourth with your family and friends!

My sister had a baby girl! Yes, she’s here! Little Brianna Raven Carrington (aka Peanut) came into the world last month, June 14, 2007, weighing in at 5 lbs 14 oz (5/14, my mother’s birthday ). Ornery little thing came out not wanting to be bothered. She’s already showing the anti-social McKeever trait. Don’t know what the Carrington traits are yet. Only time will tell . Of course she looks like everyone and no one, but suffice to say, she is beautiful!

Movies, Cable, DVD: At the movies I Caught 28 WEEKS LATER Memorial Day Weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I hadn’t seen the first one, and didn’t hear too many good things about it (most of the comments I got were that it was incomprehensible). I went into this one with a vague idea of what to expect, and for some reason I thought zombies, a la NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, but it’s more than just another zombie movie. There are similarities in that victims of the virus catch it by being bitten by the infected, and the infected instantly turn into rage-filled homicidal and suicidal madmen and women. I took the movie as an action and drama-packed metaphor for the HIV virus and threatening bird flu pandemic that pervade are society today. There were some gory moments, but also affecting and poignant moments when the American military sharpshooters are forced to shoot-to-kill everyone on the ground—infected and uninfected alike—even their own comrades. The plot was tightly-woven and the performances were solid (I especially enjoyed Jeremy Renner’s turn as a sympathetic sharpshooter who befriends a military doctor and two British children. Until now, I’ve only seen him play “bad” guys as Jeffrey Dahmer and the main villain in the new S.W.A.T movie a few years ago. So this was a nice redemptive turn).

What spring/summer movie season would be complete without at least one family-friendly movie like SHREK THE THIRD I ask you? Took the nieces and nephews to see this one, and since it was a week or two after the premier, we didn’t have to deal with the crazy lines. Got to the theater a few minutes after the listed showtime for the first showing, and since there were no lines either for tickets or concession, I bought the tickets for the current show rather than next one as originally planned, 45-minutes later. Still caught previews and the beginning of the movie and the theater was almost empty but for scattered people here and there. But the most important thing was that the movie was good and we all enjoyed it. Lots of references to pop culture, one of the popular staples of all the Shrek movies, were fun along with numerous sight gags. It was an overall enjoyable experience.

Caught LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD and Bruce Willis has still got it! Heart-pounding action, tightly-wound plot, humorous and snappy dialogue mixed in with the tension, murder and mayhem. Out of the 4 DIE HARD movies, I would have to say this was the best one after the original. Justin Long makes a nice addition to the franchise as a computer genius whiz kid with some snappy lines of his own and is a great sidekick. This one is great escapist entertainment and the perfect summer movie.

TRANSFORMERS: I had been looking forward to seeing this movie since seeing the first clips several months ago and quite simply it was well-worth the wait. This was another great summer movie! Loved it! Special effects were fantastic! Acting and storyline were each serviceable (Shia LeBouf especially does a great job bringing sensitivity and wit to a grueling role and manages not to be overshadowed by the robots, special effects and action). Loved the humor and interaction between hero (Shia) and his parents and hero and Autobots. Typical Steven Spielberg emotion and drama (human boy befriends friendly alien, or in this case, aliens), with a little romance mixed into Michael Bay’s non-stop action/adventure story. Even my sister Niny enjoyed it.

Now for some writing, publishing and promotional news:

ETERNAL DESIGNS is finally out! This ones release date was changed and pushed back several times, but now one of my earliest-written books accepted for publication by Siren has finally been released and is doing well in the Top 4 Bestsellers at Siren. I got my first review for it already and it’s not bad . I’m hoping the ones to come are even better. Stay tuned.

Bronx Food and Arts Festival: Well, at least we got nice weather .Very nice showing for the event and my niece and I had a raucous time listening to the live music and watching the Bronx Week parade. As for how many books I sold...a grand total of 2, and one of those was to one of my sisters-in-law who made it to the event with three more of my nieces. Lots of people stopped by the table and took the promotional items available (bookmarks, magnets, book catalogues and the like), so maybe my name will get out there a bit more and I made some "future" sales. I wouldn't call it a waste of time (six hours, not counting arrival and set-up), as I did meet some interesting people and had a nice day out. But I'm hoping for a much better result my next event...Will keep you all posted!

Tomorrow, it's off to the Harlem Book Festival! I'll let you all know how that goes...

I found out 7/19/07 that my erotic short story, Idle Hands has been accepted for publication by CLEAN SHEETS, an online erotic magazine. I’m hyped, as you can imagine. The magazine has a wide circulation (my story will be read by more than 3,000 people each day!) so I’m hoping it’ll get my name “out there” some more. Stay tuned for news of when the story goes live.

That’s all for now.

As always, hope you enjoy this issue of The G-Spot!

POETRY CORNER:

"Shadow Dance"
(c) 12/96 by Gracie C. McKeever

It begins as an urge
a notion of pleasure
that sends you sprinting
desperate for your lover

Your dry spell will end

Ideas germinate, nature gestates
In the dark a dance of creation is begun

The premise is your foreplay
it caresses and fondles
and teases your sleep
with maybes and possibles

Is consummation on the horizon?

With a burst of devotion
you flex muscles
limp from disuse
fondle flesh
feel qualities
you forgot you once knew

Inside out upside down
you drive, push, juggle
and titillate yourself
visions of a climax muddled

Your dance with creation is in full swing
and soon the labor will truly begin

Pressing shoving thrusting for release
your baby makes its way into the world
a raw breathing beast

For better or worse
you have just given birth

Now begins the hard part
making life's decisions
You go back to your lover
and begin your revisions

NEW REVIEWS (EXCERPTS):

BETWEEN DARKNESS AND DAYLIGHT:

"...Between Darkness and Daylight evokes an array of emotions, ranging from excitement to fear to sorrow to love. When I picked up this book and began reading, I didn't want to put it down. I was intrigued by how the characters' emotional dilemmas were all intertwined. From beginning to end, I could feel each character's raw emotions. If you are driven by drama or high end adventure, I would recommend Between Darkness and Daylight as your next read." 5 Sistah Hugs, Shawn Thomas, SistahFriend Book Club. To read the full review visit here: http://www.sistahfriend.com/betweendarknessanddaylightreview.htm

"...This author always balances her romance plot with a great bit of suspense, and this book is no exception. McKeever keeps us on the edge of our seat throughout the book, granting voyeuristic bits of insight into the villain’s mind as he plots the downfall of Zane and his loved ones. Even though she reveals the identity of the villain fairly early in the book, it never lessens the intensity of the action or the danger.

Between Darkness and Daylight should not be missed by fans of romantic paranormal suspense, and especially fans of Gracie C. McKeever." 4 Klovers, Jennifer for Kwips and Kritiques. To read the full review visit here: http://www.ck2skwipsandkritiques.com/betweendarknessanddaylight_jennifer.html

ETERNAL DESIGNS:

"...Gracie McKeever’s full length novel, Eternal Designs, falls into a myriad of romance categories: paranormal, reincarnation, interracial as well as suspense. The plot takes many twists and turns when nearly everyone in this character-packed story is considered, at one time or another, a potential murder suspect. Throughout the who-done-it plot line runs a parallel one of whether Gale (in Laurent’s body) can make the mistrustful Zoelle fall in love again. I especially loved the fumbling, yet tender way these two try to find their way back to each other. Although this story doesn’t contain much sex given its 312 page length, the 4 or 5 intimate scenes between Zoelle and Gale/Laurent are plenty hot, yet somehow sweet. Gale (as Laurent) is a great character, thrust unexpectedly into someone else’s body and given the chance of a lifetime to love Zoelle if only she would take him back, since she thinks he’s really her domineering husband Laurent. Zoelle is hard as nails but really as soft as a marshmallow inside. Her teenage son, Wynton, is a pivotal character and gives Gale/Laurent a hard time throughout the entire story, playing true to type as the suspicious and surly stepson. Eternal Designs works well as a suspense story and kept me hanging until the very end as to the identity of the real murder suspect." 4 Stars/Sizzling, Anna Mae Garland, Just Erotic Romance Reviews http://www.justeroticromancereviews.com

FLAMES PAST:

"...Gracie C. McKeever has a combustible story in Flames Past. Her female character is not the usual run of the mill. Echo was a troubled youth and grew to be a strong woman albeit with some sensitive issues to overcome. Her love for her son is never in doubt, but she worries about her parenting skills. Into this mix throw in a bit of the paranormal and you have a recipe that could either be a disaster or an epicurean delight. The boy’s attitude and emotions were appropriate and well written. Sean Casey is a good man through and through, although, his issues with his gift and the guilt he suffers seem almost insurmountable. In Flames Past, Gracie C. McKeever weaves a well written story of three coming together as a family with all the traits and characters that make them individuals.” 4 Angels, Dana P. for Fallen Angel Reviews. To read the full review visit here: http://www.fallenangelreviews.com/2007/June/DanaP-FlamesPast.htm

GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS:

"...Ms. McKeever did a nice job on this book. It was a delightful little romp featuring aliens, shape shifting with shades of vampirism and adventure. As the first in a series it makes you want to know about who gets the next adventure. Will the next be as good as the first? This reviewer is looking forward to another nice escape from boring realities of life." 4 Roses, Robin, My Book Cravings. To read the full review visit here: http://www.mybookcravings.com/robins_guardianseductress.htm

IN PLAIN SIGHT:

"...Gracie McKeever created a book that drew me in from the first chapter, with me knowing I would love the storyline right off. I felt the emotions and connections of all the characters as if I was apart of their world. Feelings of fear, mistrust, racism, jealously and love are all felt throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book to those that love a paranormal mystery with a wonderful ending, which will bring a smile to your face...this is a great read." APOOO 4 Stars/Amazon 4 Stars, S.E. Koshi aka Lady Flava APOOO (A Place of Our Own) BookClub http://www.apooo.org To read the full review, visit here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1933563427/sirenpub-20

NINE INCHES OF SNOW AND THE EBONY PRINCESS:

Yeah! A Recommended Read from Joyfully Reviewed! Cool :

"...Nine Inches of Snow and the Ebony Princess is witty and sensual. Aziza and David have an instant attraction to each other that goes to their souls. Each has special abilities that combine to defeat the coma and confirm their souls are mated. I was intrigued from beginning to end. Talented Gracie C. McKeever has created an exceptional story that begs to continue with a second book of Nine Inches of Snow and the Ebony Princess." A Joyfully Recommended Read by Rosemary for Joyfully Reviewed. To read the full review, visit here: http://www.joyfullyreviewed.com/reviews/RRs/June07RR/NineInchesOfSnowAndTheEbonyPrincess.GCM.html

TERMS OF SURRENDER:

"...There are many elements all going on at once within Terms of Surrender. The story offers suspense, action, drama, romance you name it. The characters are dynamic. Nick is the tall dark handsome type who follows his own rules. Slany is a headstrong and stubborn beauty who doesn’t take crap from anyone. As you can imagine, Slany has a hard time submitting to Nick at first but when he turns on the charm and a few other things the atmosphere around them definitely heats up. While the two’s relationship grows they become the targets of a psychopath, with the main target being Slany. But Nick isn’t willing to let anything happen to her not after he’s waited so long to have her. The story takes readers on a spectacular ride of suspense and drama. I recommend Terms of Surrender for everyone’s reading pleasure." 4 Flags, Chantay, for Euro Reviews. To read the full review, visit here: http://euroreviews.eu.funpic.de/bookdetails.php?book_id=1020

"...Ms McKeever does an excellent job of developing her hero and heroine, giving you a true glimpse into domination and submission.

The sex rating on this book is scorching. It contains many sexual encounters and unconventional sex, and it will probably offend delicate readers. I found [the] love scenes to be tastefully done, however, putting Gracie C. McKeever on my list of the best erotica authors out there.” Reviewed by Margaret Marr for Nights and Weekends.com. THIS ISSUE’S NOVEL EXCERPT: Comes to us from this issue’s Spotlight Author, Candice Gilmer. Sit back and enjoy!
Blurb:

Cyborgs do not show emotion. Cyborgs are more machine than actual humanoid. By all intents and purpose they are perfect humanoids.

Then a viral anomaly appears in their programming, and they wipe each other out. Surviving only by sheer accident, Jasmine Storm escapes the civil war, and she is propelled into the humanoid world, to live among mere humans, where she is the anomaly. She spends her days as a security officer on Webster’s Casino, observing humanoids, and trying to understand their bizarre, emotional behavior.

Then she starts having emotions as well; emotions and memories that are not hers -- are they? They come not from her neural implants, but from someplace else. Someplace that Storm doesn’t understand.

Devin Cartell, a rebel in the Uprising against the oppressive, war-bent Regime government, came to Webster’s Casino to buy a splitter card to help him in the newest offensive against the Regime. Instead, he meets Jasmine Storm, and everything he knows is turned upside down.

Cartell is binded to his Kerabal, Mashlia Mayd, as decided when they both were tiny children. Yet he feels more emotion, more fire in the spiritual plane with this cyborg, this less-than-human Jasmine Storm. Trapped between what he wants to do and what he should do, Cartell learns that Storm may very well have the key to winning the Uprising against the Regime.

Can Jasmine Storm’s past be the key to their future?

Excerpt:
Jasmine Storm rolled over, feeling Cartell’s warm body next to hers. She considered leaping up off the bed and getting away from him as fast as she could, but she didn’t want to. Looking at his face, he was lost, deep in rem sleep, and from his jerky movements, he was in battle, fighting for his life.
Had she moved, she might have disturbed the course of the dream, and that could be detrimental to the dreamer, so she stayed still. Billingsly never showed any signs that he experienced dreams, so for her to watch Cartell was a privilege.
He jerked and kicked in the bed. Soft moans emanated from his mouth, and Storm shifted so she could better see him, but he pulled her back against him. The way he pulled her to him, she had little choice but to wrap a leg over his and press herself fully against him.
Not that it was an unpleasant sensation. Cartell was a much more massive humanoid that Billingsly had been. His chest was much broader, his arms thicker. Billingsly was taller and lean, his muscles compact compared to Cartell’s thickened appendages.
Cartell jerked again, this time moaning words.
“Pernia,” he said, almost panicked. He jerked again. Storm readjusted her position and his leg hooked over her leg and hip. His grip around her tightened, and he lashed out again.
“Pernia,” he said again, this time a far more loving tone. He kissed the top of her head, scooted himself into her more, and began kissing her throat.
He elicited a moan from Storm, and that seemed to fuel his passionate kisses. He rolled on top of her, pinning her down.
A fire built in her belly, so consuming she thought her head would explode with the heat. His lips ran up and down her throat, nipping and biting at the little bit of exposed flesh. One of his hands reached up, jerking at the magnetic clasps that held her tunic on. His hand found her skin under the suit, and he pushed it off her shoulder.
“Cartell,” she whispered.
He moaned against her, his lips refusing to leave contact with her skin.
“Cartell,” she said, a bit louder. A simple push and he’d be off her, lying on the floor.
That’s all she’d have to do.
His hand slid under the fabric, finding her right breast.
Storm lost all sense of logic as pain and pleasure ripped through her when he tugged at the stone--hard nipple under his hand. His hips shifted over hers, and she could feel his erection pressed against her. She cried out, the sensation so powerful her mental barriers dropped faster than she realized.
She shuddered as his kisses worked their way down to the revealed breast. Pulling at his hair, she moaned, not wanting any of this to stop.
Yet no sensation she’d ever experienced before could prepare her for the incredible onslaught of emotions that screamed through her at that moment.
His hands bared more of her chest, revealing the other breast, and while one of his hands mauled one breast, the other was attacked by his lips. She cried out, locking her legs around his hips, and pressing into him.
“Cartell,” she moaned. He slid his body back up to her, and she noticed that his eyes were not open.
Could he still be dreaming?
“Cartell?” Storm said.
He covered her mouth with his, muffling her words. Their kiss sent ripples of fire throughout Storm, and she reached down to his mechanic’s tunic, pulling at the seams to get the fabric off. She needed to feel his skin against hers, and she needed to feel it right then!
He stopped kissing her long enough to pull the tunic apart and slip it off his upper body. When he came down on her, Storm started kissing his neck, his shoulders, anything she could reach. She had to feel every centimeter of his skin, that strong, cut skin.
Cartell didn’t allow her that luxury, though. He reached down, pulling the rest of her tunic off. Storm saw that his eyes were open, the blue that resided there now pools of near black staring back at her.
If he had been dreaming, he wasn’t now. His hands grabbed her hair, and he pressed himself against her now naked body, groaning a guttural sound that Storm had only heard from animals off the Biosphere.
Excitement electrified her body; soon she knew she would combust. She grabbed his back, pulling his body down against hers, and they continued kissing, their bodies only separated by the mechanic’s uniform that Cartell still wore over his waist and hips.
Storm ran her hands down his back. Across his shoulders, his Empian freckles
burned a dark crimson. They traveled down his back in an arrow--like shape, and as her fingers caressed them, they felt warm to the touch. Grabbing at his rear, she tried to pull the uniform the rest of the way off, but Cartell wouldn’t lift up enough. Gripping the fabric, Storm jerked, splitting the tunic into two pieces.
The rip of the fabric jarred Cartell. He stopped his kissing and pulled back, looking at Storm.
Emotions poured across his face, so many Storm wasn’t sure she could catalog them all.
“Jasmine,” he whispered. He looked down at her body, and at his. “Oh, Originator, oh, Elohim, what am I doing?” He bolted up off the bed, grabbing the remains of his tunic, and trying to pull the tattered fabric on.
“Yes, what are you doing?” Storm asked, sitting up.
“Jasmine, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have…”

THIS ISSUE’S ESSAY: The Glamour of Writing by Elizabeth Delisi

Whenever someone asks me what I do for a living and I say, "I'm a writer," they get all starry-eyed and excited. "Oh, I've never met a writer before!" they say as they crush my hand in theirs, and I try to keep my eyes from watering.

I guess being a writer sounds like a glamorous occupation, second only to being a rock star or Oscar-winning Hollywood actress, and I have to admit, there are bits of it that are really fun. Like oh, for instance, getting to say, "I'm a writer." :-)

But like any other career, writing is hard work and primarily involves the less-than-glamorous application of your behind to the chair, your fingers to the keyboard, and your brain in gear for many hours a day in order to get anything done.

Writing involves creativity, which is the fun part of it, but also many hours of research, constant education and learning, a good business sense, and many other less-fun things.

"Ah, but the royalties!" you say. "What about those big royalty checks? Surely THAT at least is glamorous."

Let's just say, most royalty checks are closer to allowing me to live in the fabled garret of nineteenth century fame than in a crystal palace with a yacht moored in the private lake in the back yard.

Case in point. I received a royalty check today for...anyone wanna guess?

Time's up.

Sixty-two cents.

Yup. Sixty-two cents.

Now, admittedly that's for a six-author anthology, so the royalties have to be split six ways. And also admittedly, it's for a HOLIDAY anthology and we're at the start of summer, so sales at this point aren't expected to be high for this book.

But still...anyone see me retiring to the Riviera on sixty-two cents? ;-)

"Okay," you persist, "so why do you write for a living, then?"

Good question.

Like most things in life that are worth anything, writing grabs you by the throat and won't let you go. It sucks you in with siren promises of wealth, fame, changing the world through your immortal prose. And once you get in deep enough to realize the unlikeliness of those things occurring...well, you've seen your name on that book cover and you're hooked. You're committed. You're addicted.

So, you keep struggling away at your day job, and in your "free" time you keep putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), writing in the eternal hope that THIS book will be the one to crack the bestseller list and put your name on everyone's lips.

Off I go to cash my sixty-two cent check and get...um...one sixth a cup of coffee, one fifth a gallon of milk, or maybe an entire candy bar. Woo hoo! And then, it's back to work and back to writing. Because after all of the above, there's still no career I'd rather be in. And maybe THAT'S the glamour of writing, eh?

AUTHOR BIO: Elizabeth Delisi has wanted to be a writer since she was in first grade, and probably would have written in the womb if she could have convinced her mother to swallow a pencil. Elizabeth is a multi-published, award-winning author of romance, mystery and suspense.. In addition to her writing, Elizabeth edits for several small publishers and individuals, and teaches online writing courses for Writer's Digest.
