A week ago bn.com, the world's largest book retailer, brought Scott Frank's mystery/crime thriller back into their fold. Sort of. They offered it for sale stating that the book was currently not in stock. (That was a darn bit better than a week earlier when bn.com simply stated they didn't carry it at all--but it could be ordered.)

What appears to be the case in this love story (love saga??) is that bn.com will now either have it in stock or it will be "temporarily out of stock." This has been the case for the past week. Today, for instance, "Darkness Descends" is in stock, shipping in 2-3 days. Hooray! (Order Now!)

Additionally, during the past week, it was noted by a few people and reported to ScottNews that "Darkness Descends" rose to the sales ranking position of 54,275 (out of over a million titles offered for sale). It stayed in that range for several days and today was back at 124,379. Not terribly terrific, but still not too bad for an unknown author.

bn.com continues to offer their nice 30% discount (from $19.00 retail), bringing the price down to $13.30. (If you happen to belong to Barnes & Noble's Readers' Advantage program the price is only $12.64.) And they still offer free shipping (directly to your home) when you order two or more books. (ScottNews is beginning to sound like a bn.com commerical.)

To locate and purchase Scott Frank's novel simply go to http://www.bn.com, click on the "bookstore" icon and do an "author search" for Scott Frank. "Darkness Descends" should be the first item listed on your screen. Click on the icon and bn.com will offer you the book.

There is one other mortar/internet store offering "Darkness Descends" at $13.30 and that is Books-A-Million, a nice regional bookstore chain based in Alabama that also sells on the net. (ScottNews has been to a few of their stores and enjoyed browsing and purchasing books. ) Books-A-Million's estimated shipping cost is a penny cheaper than bn.com (if you're only buying one book, i.e. "Darkness Descends"). Their web site is http://www.bamm.com. To buy Darkness at that location you do a search similar to bn.com.

Interestingly enough there are a few other big internet stores now offering the book. They can all be located at http://www.allbookstores.com. Do a search at that site for "Darkness Descends" and then click on the "compare and buy" button (don't worry you don't buy anything by clicking on that). One finds Amazon/Borders, 1Bookstreet and DoubleDiscount all offering Darkness at a wide range of prices. (ANd, for your info, allbookstores is a very cool site to locate any book. The site basically tells you, after you have entered a title, the cost of a selected book at any site on the web offering it. Try it.)
