Now that everyone has, hopefully, had a chance to unwind from the Holidays and the start of the New Year, ScottNews would like to take a minute and thank each and every one of you for your support during 2002 and for purchasing your copy of "Darkness Descends." There have been many words of encouragement (verbal, email and snail-mail) from family and friends who read the book and now, of course, want to know: "where is 'The Marble Killer'?"

Rest assured that "The Marble Killer" is alive and well. (Well, the book is, anyway!)

Emails have been received asking about obtaining an advance preview of "marble" but all that there is to read--and will be for a while--is at http://scottfrank.writernetwork.com. Those few, well-chosen, words will have to suffice until approximately May, which is the current anticipated date for the release of book number two by Scott Frank.

Anyone interested in picking up a copy of "Darkness Descends" should consider going to http://www.booklocker.com/books/786.html. They are the publishers of the book and, at present, offer a slightly better single-copy price than any other on-line bookseller. The cost is $15.95 plus shipping and handling. For those who plan on purchasing "darkness" and another book (or two copies of "darkness," hint, hint), Barnes & Noble still offers free shipping for ordering two books. "Darkness Descends" is consistently in circulation at the Groveland (CA) Public Library. Groveland (and the nearby Pine Mountain Lake region), of course, is a major setting for "darkness" (and the location of Scott's writer hideaway) and, since taking the book in October, the book has reportedly been with library patrons every day--not adorning the shelves. Thanks to the Yosemite Herald for kicking off the book's library circulation!

In other news, towards the end of 2002, eBook sales picked up at both booklocker.com and at http://www.firstprint.com/authorswelch2.htm (where both "darkness" and the short story "iloveyoudotcom" are for sale). Once again, booklocker offers the eBook in PDF format, while firstprint sells a Microsoft Reader version of the book and short story.

Not much to report in music news, unfortunately. But, hey, while activities, such as contracts, don't always have to be happening day-in and day-out, song lyrics continue to be written and contacts with others around the world interested in working together also occurs. Several original lyrics have been posted at http://aol.tonos.com/scottdwelch and composers and song writers have been responding. Additionally, referrals from newsletter subscribers to Scott have resulted in possible music collaborations. Thank you for that, as well.

The future, therefore, looks bright.

ScottNews is looking for further news on any progress that Atlanta Music Group has in selling music by Denmark's talented Lene Dissing. A song co-written with Lene (and Christian Warburg), "Our Love," is part of Lene's deal with AMG. Keep your fingers crossed! More original music by Lene can be heard at http://www.dissing.net.

Angie Baker, half of the Angela Scott Music team, has been working extensively on new music. Aside from the types of songs she has written in the past (samples of which can be heard at the tonos site listed above and lyrics can be read at either http://www.authorsden.com/angelascott or http://angelascott.writernetwork.com), Angie is composing Christian music which, with her music and vocal abilities, could be very good in that market.
