Welcome to my fantasy world

If you clicked over to this page, you're probably wondering who I am.  I write fantasy and SF with some unexpected twists, which is why I've titled my web site Crossing the Imaginary Line.

I like to think I was born a writer since it's all I can ever remember wanting to do. But like many writers, I was a reader first. In fact, if you ask my family, they will tell you I was born with my nose in a book. Luckily, the first SF/fantasy book I ever picked up was by one of the all-time greats, Andre Norton. Since then, I've devoured whole libraries  of SF and fantasy books. Words are my passion. Perhaps it is genetic. My uncle and my brother are also writers.

Eventually reading did turn into writing. But since I needed to think about a job while writing that bestseller, I studied English and journalism and then spent ten happy years working for a newspaper. Unfortunately, sixty-hour weeks at the newspaper left me with little energy for writing anything else. Burnout eventually hit and I switched to the editing side of the desk. That leaves me with the energy to write at night. Yes, I'm the Night Writer.

Bad puns aside, I know how lucky I am to have seen my dream of creative writing come true. To date, I've have three fantasy novels published as well as an SF trilogy and a young adult book.

When I'm not working or busy writing, I go golfing with my husband or devote myself to spoiling my two adorable Australian Silky Terriers.
