Behind the Poem:

So much has happened this summer - it's really shapped up my poetry. Fromout some of the various heartaches and shocks, I was inspired to write possibly one of my greatest poems "It's not Goodbye all the Time." This poem is posted at my author's den site. Surprisingly, this was not inspired by the infamous plane crash, rather a conversation on the phone that I had the morning of writing this poem this summer. After this conversation, I went out and mowed my yard and so many thoughts started racing through my mind...I came up with the title line to convince myself that things always work for the better. I jumped off of the tractor and raced in to write the poem. I wanted to write it with a twist and wanted the reader to form the wrong opinion at the beginning. I hope that I have succeeded in my effort. While writing it, it evolved into describing the disaster using the love between a father and daughter as the narrator.

If you live in central Indiana, you may visit me at "Poetry Night" located at the Lighthouse Cafe in Alexandria, Indiana. This cafe is located at the intersection of Harrison Street and Washington Street and "Poetry Night" is the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. I plan to be there in October, but do not know about other months.
