Happy New Year!

Can you believe it is already the new year? I actually took some time off and focused on getting some of my closets cleaned and then got back online to start doing some technical work on the many websites I manage.

It ended up being perfect timing for the work in the home since we got blasted with a very wet storm that was essentially a non - stop torrential down pour that lasted four days until it turned to snow.

Living in a rural mountain area has its perks but storms and very cold temperatures usually mean that I lose Internet access which makes it the perfect time to focus on other tasks.

I do still keep dial - up for emergencies but last year we even lost all our phones!

2011 promises to be a good year - at least I hope so. Right before the holidays my doctor told me the growth on my thyroid was gone and I am hopeful that my energy and focus will return and remain stable.

Some of you know that my sister's life was saved by my urging her to go get checked - - she had a very rare endocrine issue and had brain surgery to remove two tumors around her pituitary.

There were some other family issues to but the year's end was full of good news in that department. Everyone is expected to do well and recover but I am happy to leave 2010 behind.

As you know, many of my projects were delayed because
of the issues I had to overcome and so I am hoping 2011
delivers some exciting partnerships and project launches.

One of the things I have to do is get fit again. I am sure many of you might have similar goals but wonder if
you are also going to include your pet in those plans.

In fact, the first few Pet Parenting newsletters are going to have some fun facts about pet obesity and fitness - - so you might want to sign up (see the premium newsletter section for more info below).

I have changed the newsletter this year and anticipate
contacting you more frequently than just once a month
through the premium newsletters.

Are you a pet parent that is concerned over your pet's weight?

If so, I have a few products that you might want to start off the new year with.

First, there is an application for you to use called CUPetHealth.

It helps you manage and control the weight of your pets through your iPhone or iPad.

The CUPetHealth is available from the iTunes store and is distributed by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University.

You simply enter in the appropriate details and then will see if you are "overfeeding," "underfeeding" or feeding an "appropriate" amount.

A lot of pet parents are combining their weight loss goals with better care of their pets and here are a few books you might like, too.
