So here in the mountains things are a bit confusing since we have been moving from cold temperatures to warm. Nights require a bit of heat and I've had a few roaring fires but the days are warm enough for me to still get in my hammock and relax in the sun.

Despite catching that nasty respiratory virus while at my doctors office, I am doing much better and looking forward to being able to start working out again after not having the ability to do so for quite some time.

Over the last month I did two appearances and was not exhausted after them - - so that is progress! So, I bought a rebounder and will begin doing yoga this week and then kick things up a notch.

Everything got put on hold temporarily - - which is frustrating but I manage to have adventures despite any temporary challenges. Like the day I was enjoying time in my hammock. Going down the hill is a saga and takes a minimum of 8 hours, so by the time I returned it was time to rest up and I tend to do better if I am outside in my hammock on the deck above the lake surrounded by the pines.

I took a picture and posted it on my private Facebook page and my friends and family told me that it was wrong to torment them! However, what was interesting about my most recent hammock adventure was that I heard a big thump but didn't think much about it since this time of year is when the pine cones drop from the trees. I figured I was lucky it hit the deck and not me.

But when I got up from my hammock, I discovered that there was a big trout on my deck that had just missed hitting me. By this time (two hours later) rigor mortis had set in and the wasps were having a bit of a feast.

As I thought back about it, while I was prone, I had noticed an unusual hawk circling around my head. This was a bit odd but enjoyable to watch. Upon my discovery of the fish, I realized he had dropped it and did not come down to retrieve it because I was in my hammock!
Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction and my neighbors have certainly enjoyed the story. It was the talk of the town for a short time and the story created a wave of amusement. So that is my fish story for the year!

Despite the good weather, snow is expected later this week. I am still waiting on my firewood to be delivered - - so let's hope it gets here before the storm.

This is usually my favorite time of year because the weather is crisp and clear but no ice or snow is on the ground. Flies and other pesky insects disappear and the vibrant colors of nature take my breath away.

Since I've been busy, it was easy to get behind on some of the pet product news. It has been a while since I attended a trade show or visited a vendor so I spent some time perusing through some of my trade journals this week.

If you are into clicker training and have two animals you are trying to train at once, Clik - R Duo can help you do it. I has both a chime and a traditional clicker and is made by Premier Pet Products.

I've never been a big fan of rawhide due to blockage issues and the use of formaldehyde in products imported from other countries. SmartBones are chew treats that provide an alternative. They are made from chicken and vegetables. PetMatrix, the manufacturer says that they are 99.2% digestible.

Books that talk about the right dog breeds are common but a new book on the market can help you find the purrfect feline companion. Check out The Cat Selector by Barron's Educational Books.

Finally, if you want to get the animal's perspective on things, try the Eyenimal Pet Cam by Dogtek. You might just discover what your pet is up to!
