Life on the party perch has been pretty amusing. This month the chicks all left the nest and so there are a lot of feathered fledglings around.

They tend to be a bit awkward and my favorite is the white headed woodpecker who makes a big ruckus when he arrives on deck.

You see, the parent bird is still feeding him. I have some suet up and they love it. Suet is a mix of beef fat with seeds. It has a high caloric value so they can get a lot of nutrition in one stop.

I also put out mealworms and they enjoy those too. But the little guy is so noisy, that it is funny.

Since I live in a resort town, the place is hopping with visitors now until the end of next week.

One of the big happenings around here are yard sales.

They are favorites because moving things up and down the mountain (or up and down stairs) is not a popular pastime and so people get rid of great things.

In addition, vintage items are commonly found when someone buys an old cabin and simply want to clear it out.

My luck with holding yard sales is dismal, so I took some time to clear out the shed. The items filled the truck bed of my pal's truck and we delivered them to the local Moose Lodge.

Moose Lodge 2085 happens to be the community center here in town.

They also support a variety of charities so I know the money collected from the goods is all going to the right places...and I don't have to sit and bargain with people!

Now as far as the US holiday, around the San Bernardino National Forest we don't light fireworks but do happen to be known for putting on one of the top five best fireworks shows in California.

It all takes place above Big Bear Lake so that it reduces the fire danger.

Even so, animals are still sensitive and need special handling the day of the event.

Finally, we have two yearling bear cubs causing big excitement around town. They are coming in because their mother taught them to be trash diggers.

This is not good news since if they become nuisance bears it could cost them their lives.

However, all the neighbors are working together to help get them back to the forest.

I've written about it before and will probably write about it again because those 4th of July pet safety tips are needed every year.

There are a variety of different steps you can take to reduce noise phobia and fear. Many are common sense but there are also options for alternative remedies that might help as well.

The main practices are discussed in the articles I have listed below but making sure your pet has a current identification tag on and keeping your pets securely confined on the 4th are two good tips to avoid losing a panicked pet.

Although it is too late to implement training efforts and strategies that will help reduce noise phobia or fireworks fear for this year, consider taking steps from July 5th on so that your pet will no longer suffer on this summer holiday, during thunderstorms or New Year's eve.

Now, if you have a business online, you know just how awful it can be to have a negative review.

So, if you do not have a five star rating - - it could cost you customers since an astounding 67% look at reviews prior to doing anything online. (That is 2 out of 3 people.)

An astounding 72% consider the reviews just as valid as personal recommendations and more good reviews mean more trust.

A consumer needs to see six to ten reviews before trusting them and making a decision.
